Els Wenselaers creates installations, abstract and figurative sculptures, spatial works, and wall pieces. Her work reflects a profound interest in exploring the decay and decomposition of matter through natural processes. The esoteric, the spiritual, and the ethics of the unconscious also play a significant role. These influences form a visual language where elements are freely and associatively organized.

She combines various techniques and materials into a harmonious whole, with design, colour, composition, and texture being crucial. The process is as important as the final result. Her earlier works serve as visual metaphors for human nature.

In her recent works, the built-up layers of material reveal different stages of existence. During the process, shapes and structures are deconstructed and rebuilt, often by sawing and breaking plaster moulds of clay compositions. Her wall panels allude to the absurdity and complexity of the world.

She draws inspiration from thinkers like Albert Camus and Simone Weil, whose works reflect the meaninglessness and absurdity of existence.

The unique and complex techniques she uses for her recent porcelain works have been refined over time. Every crack and fracture contributes to an aesthetic dialogue that, although layered, remains accessible to the viewer and invites personal interpretation.

Els Wenselaers lives and works in Niel, Belgium. She has participated in numerous exhibitions both domestically and internationally. In 2023, her work was selected for the international competition "Blanc de Chine" and was included in the permanent ICAA collection. In 2024, her work was selected for the "European Ceramic Contest" in Denmark.
